UMass Dartmouth Library Associates Event.

The UMass Dartmouth Library Associates presents its Spring event “THE COVE WOT SPOUTS SHAKESPEARE!”

“Ashore in the Big City: A Romp with Sailors wandering about the World’s great seaport towns-London, New York, New Bedfordwill be presented by Dr. Stuart Frank, the Senior Curator, New Bedford Whaling Museum. He is also the Director Emeritus, Kendall Museum and has a Ph.D from Brown University, where he wrote his dissertation on Ballads and Songs of the Whale Hunters.

This event, which is open to the general public, will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 7 pm, in the UMass Dartmouth Library Browsing Area. Refreshments will be served and parking will be available in Parking Lot 13, near the entrance to the Library.

Domestic Politics and Iraq.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to the Library/Faculty Senate Brown Bag Lunch event for the month of April. It will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2006,  from 12:15 pm,  in the Library Browsing Area.

Kenneth L. Manning, Ph. D, Associate Professor of Political Science, will speak on “The Domestic Politics of the Iraq War: Upending the American Party System?” The last in the series for this semester, this month’s event is a unique opportunity to explore the effects of the war in Iraq on domestic politics and the short and long term implications for the Democratic and Republican parties.
