<p><strong>George Pacheco</strong> of Rhode Island is a lecturer and researcher associated with the Family History Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dartmouth, MA.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Assistant Vice Chancellor Cynthia Cummings</strong> will speak on <em>Student Affairs and Student Development at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth</em>, Claire T. Carney Library Associates Annual Meeting on <strong>Thursday, May 14th at 7:00 pm in the Library Browsing Area</strong>.</p>
<p>The Associates will hold an election of officers and present their annual gift to Claire T. Carney Library for the purchase of library materials.</p>
<p><strong>Ms. Cummings</strong> holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French Language and Literature and a Master&#8217;s of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. She has extensive experience in college and university residential education, judicial affairs, and crisis management. She has served as a consultant to higher education institutions, public school systems, and community organizations on issues of multiculturalism and diversity. The annual meeting is open to the public.</p>
<p>A dessert reception will follow the program.</p>

<p>Ryan Cooper will speak about his correspondence with Otto Frank. At the age of 27 he forged a relationship with Otto Frank, Anne Frank’s father. In 1973 Ryan Cooper first met Otto Frank, then 84 and living in Basel Switzerland.</p>
<p>The presentation is from 6 &#8211; 8 p.m. in the Library Browsing Area. There will be a tour of the new library archives space on the ground floor followed by a talk in the library browsing area.</p>

The purpose of the donation is to purchase books in the humanities, specifically, music, art, English literature, and history.   They also presented a plaque that recognized a program organized by the Library Associates this year, “<em>Four Male Authors</em>.”</p>
<p>Dean Weiner gave a presentation on the symbolic value of libraries.</p>

<p>The Claire T. Carney Library Associates are hosting an Heirloom Discovery Day at UMass Dartmouth, 285 Old Westport Road, Dartmouth, MA.</p>
<p>The event will be Sunday, March 30 at 2-4:30 p.m. in the Claire T. Carney library browsing area.</p>
<p>Senior appraiser Francis H. McNamee of the Marion Antique Shop and Paula Dean, who appraises jewelry and collectibles, will be featured.</p>
<ul>
<li>Each appraisal will be $5 payable at the door.</li>
<li>There is a three item limit.</li>
<li>Bring portable items and photographs of items that are too heavy to carry in.</li>
<li><em>Do <strong>not</strong> bring coins, books or stamps.</em></li>
</ul>
