Diário de Notícias Newpaper Digitization Project Unveiled – by the Claire T. Carney Library’s Ferreira Mendes Portuguese-American Archives and Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture

Diário de Notícias NewspaperThe Diário de Notícias Newspaper Digital Collection and search tool was made public today.  The Diário de Notícias Newspaper Digitization Project, developed and supported by the Claire T. Carney Library’s Ferreira Mendes Portuguese-American Archives in collaboration with the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture, will make 84,010 pages from 16,641 issues of the Diario de Noticias accessible to the world. The materials cover 1919 through 1973 and are available at no cost over the internet to students and academic researchers interested in Portuguese-related issues, as well as individuals tracing their family genealogy.

CQ Global Researcher – A database covering global affairs with international viewpoints

The Claire T. Carney Library is pleased to announce access to the CQ Global Researcher.  Modeled after the award-winning CQ Researcher, CQ Global Researcher provides students with reports covering global affairs from a number of international viewpoints. The reports are written by journalists and cover current world issues.   CQ Global Researcher is available directly from the library’s Article’s & Databases or from within the CQ Researcher database.

UMass Dartmouth is now a member of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)

UMass Dartmouth is now a member of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). Membership provides access to a vast archive of data sets in the social sciences as well as health and business, and offers us discounted tuition rates and travel stipends for courses in ICPSR’s Summer Program in Quantitative Methods.

Membership is funded through research indirect funds that are allocated to the Library Services, Information Resources, and Technology Division. ICPSR is accessible from the Claire T. Carney Library’s Articles & Databases page. Dr. Heidi Berggren is the Official Representative for UMass Dartmouth.”
