To EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service customers,
I send this to apologize for the recent service outage and to provide an update on the restoration of service. Yesterday, during a planned upgrade to EBSCOadmin, we experienced unforeseen problems as users began to authenticate using the upgraded version of EBSCOadmin. Unfortunately, this impacted EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service. We took EBSCOadmin out of service and focused on restoring access to EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service. These services were restored late yesterday evening (Eastern Time), and we have had a team working through the night working on restoring EBSCOadmin access. As of this time, access to EBSCOadmin has been fully restored.
We are committed to proving the highest level of service to you, our customers. We have obviously not performed at the level we desire in the past 24 hours. At this point, we can only apologize for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assure you that we will be doing a thorough analysis of the situation to identify root cause/s of the problem so that we can make the necessary improvements to insure that this does not occur again. We have already begun this process.
On behalf of the EBSCO Publishing team, I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage. We aspire to do better – and we will.
